Olivia uses the Bibliofold to learn how to fold into the Vellumental, and uses it to raise the arena ground.Īdditionally, in the first phase of his battle, King Olly may transform into the Earth Vellumental during his boss fight. As such, the player must be wary of how much damage they think the rush attack will do and plan to hit the tail accordingly.Īfter defeating the Earth Vellumental, its Magic Circle appears, along with its Bibliofold. However, if the attack does not defeat the Earth Vellumental, it will use Terrepair. The player must then use the 1,000-Fold Arms to grab its shell, flip it, and initiate a rush attack by hitting it multiple times. It then uses Rough Landing and starts charging Mega Earthquake. Once the player thinks they are able to finish the Earth Vellumental off, the player can then hit its tail, which deals heavy damage to the boss and makes all of its limbs retract. When battled the first time, Olivia will instruct Mario to hit the boss's front left leg, then its front right leg, before the player can choose their target. If neither attack can be used, it will use Tremor Tail. If the head was attacked and a leg is exposed, it will use Earthquake. When the Earth Vellumental attacks, if a leg was attacked the previous turn and the head is still exposed, it will use Sandblast. Attacking in the space between the limbs will do very little damage. Instead, Mario must end up either in front of its legs, head, or tail (its main weak spot) and use a Hammer or Flower attack, dealing damage and causing the hit limb to retract. The Earth Vellumental's shell is invulnerable to damage as Jump attacks land there, they are ineffective.

#Paper mario origami king earth vellumental skin
When King Olly becomes a Vellumental, alongside eyes, a three-pointed crown, and a large flap of hair like Olly's, the majority of their skin turns purple. When Olivia transforms into a Vellumental, it gains eyes and a two-pointed crown on its head. In their original origami forms, the Vellumentals have no eyes. King Olly also possesses the ability to turn into each of the Vellumentals in the first stage of his boss fight. However, the Magic Circle disappears from the enemy if Mario fails to solve the ring puzzle. During certain Wave Battles, an enemy may hold a random Vellumental Magic Circle, which if defeated will allow Olivia to transform into that Vellumental and attack all enemies with 50 damage in the next turn, or the next wave if all enemies were defeated. This allows Olivia to transform into one via a corresponding Magic Circle, allowing Mario to access its elemental powers. When they are defeated, they unveil a Bibliofold that contains instructions on how to fold into them. Certain in-game text suggests that they were not always made of origami. Their shared name is a portmanteau on "elemental", and " vellum", a type of parchment specifically made of calfskin (alluding to the ancient nature of the Vellumentals). The Vellumentals are a group of elemental, deity-like creatures that reside in their own Vellumental shrines and temples, acting as bosses in Paper Mario: The Origami King.
